Paul Hetherington is an award-winning Artist whose LEGO® creations are known around the world. Paul has a recognizable style that uses visual cues, artful building techniques, and a masterful use of color to tell stories in his creations. Paul has the ability to translate concepts and ideas into stunning visual works. His creations have been featured in multiple books, magazines, news stories, podcasts, and online blogs.  

Paul debuted his first solo Art Exhibition, The Bricktacular West Coast Modern Show, in 2023. This exhibition took place from May 5th until July 31st 2023 at the West Vancouver Memorial Library and from August 4-13, 2023 at Harmony Arts Festival.

Paul was featured in Christopher Markowsky’s documentary, LEGO Artist Profile with Paul Hetherington and The Bricktacular West Coast Modern Show. This documentary was featured in the Coast Mountain Film Festival in 2023.

Paul was invited to display his work in the LEGO® House Masterpiece Gallery in Billund. His creation “We Built This City” was on display at LEGO®  House from 2019 until 2021.

Paul is currently working on his largest commission to date.

Paul completed two large-scale commissions for Buffalo Phil’s Pizza & Grille restaurant. One in 2019 and one in 2022. For his first Buffalo Phil’s commission, Paul created a massive Brick City to complement Buffalo Phil’s train delivered food and to make their restaurant a “destination” for LEGO® fans both young and young at heart.  For Paul’s second commission for Buffalo Phil’s Pizza & Grille, Paul created a model of 6 different scenes from various Star Wars movies.

Paul has been quoted as saying “I am always searching for Wonderland in my work. Whether it is trying a new building technique or a new approach to design, I am constantly inspired to grow and move into new territory creatively. My goal is to grab your attention and figuratively take you down the rabbit hole into my imagination”. 

Paul has been attending LEGO® Conventions and Comic Cons regularly since 2004 and has consistently won awards in many theme categories over the years. He is best known for winning Seattle’s BrickCon Best in Show award a record 5 times between 2008 and 2015.

As well as creating LEGO® art, Paul is an avid LEGO® collector and has a vast knowledge which he has accumulated over his 30 years of collecting. He specializes in early LEGO®  wooden and plastic toys as well as glued promotional models and LEGO® ephemera and vintage books.
